3 NEW WELLNESS PRACTICES I WILL BE TRYING (AND 1 I AM GIVING UP) IN 2023!

Hey there,

It turns out if you try to adapt new and healthier habits, it increases your happiness and well-being. From making your bed to running a 5K, we just need to find what works for us.

Give yourself a little self-love this year, make some new year resolutions (if you haven’t already), and try out some new practices to make yourself become a better person…mentally and physically.

2022 was just a blowout for me—but this year I am attempting three new practices and deciding to get rid of one in the hopes of having a brighter, lighter, and healthier year ahead of me.

Three new practices I am going to try are:

Simplified skin care routine

My skin is a nightmare. It’s a mix of oily and dry. I don’t stick to a strict regime. I clean my skin morning and night, use a vitamin C spray, but only use serums and moisturiser when I feel I need it otherwise my skin goes crazy. Trust me when I say I cannot use everything daily.

Healthier mindset, not skinny

For years I wanted to be skinny. I thought skinny was the best way to be. I would compare myself to everyone else, especially when in the gym. I am going on 30 this year and I’ve finally come to realise I don’t need to be really thin; I just need to be healthy. So—by drinking plenty of water, eating cleaner, limiting soft drink, exercising, and getting a healthy dose of Zzzz’s, I feel I would be comfortable enough with my body.

Journalling and brain dumping

They say journalling takes a weight off our shoulders we never thought would be possible. It lightens the mental load, rids us of our stresses and worries in life (at least temporarily), and quietens the mind.

One I am going to get rid of (at least limit):

Social Media

Social media is great for entertainment, but it is also great for making you feel like sh*t. You constantly compare yourselves to others and their seemingly perfect lives when really, we don’t see the bad and ugly from behind the scenes. I’ve already set a social media limit on my phone, but I am trying to limit myself by only browsing briefly after I have completed my social media tasks for this blog.

I’m not committing to anything too crazy this year because it is my goal to just do my best and to not overcomplicate things.

What are your new habits you are going to implement this year? Comment below with your suggestions.

Bye for now,

Emmylou
